UU Family Farm
UU Family Farm – Frequently Asked Questions
Visiting the Farm
What is UU Family Farm?
UU Family Farm is an educational and interactive family farm in Richmond, British Columbia. Our goal is to help visitors reconnect with animals, nature, agriculture, family, and community through respectful, meaningful experiences.
Animal welfare always comes first. Animal access and activities may change depending on the animals’ comfort, health, behaviour, weather, crowd levels, and staffing.

Is UU Family Farm an interactive farm?
Yes. Visitors have opportunities to see and interact with many animals at close range.
However, this is the animals’ home. Visitors must move slowly, speak quietly, and allow animals to choose whether they want to approach. Interaction is never guaranteed.
General Questions
What are your opening hours?
Our hours change seasonally and may be adjusted because of weather, private events, animal care, or operating conditions.
Please check our latest Google Maps listing and social media updates before visiting.
Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are not required for regular admission. Visitors may arrive during public operating hours.
Advance booking is required for birthday parties, field trips, organized group experiences, private visits, and large events.
What are your regular admission prices?
-
Adults: $28
-
Children under 15: $18
-
Seniors age 65 and over: $18
-
Children age 2 and under: Free
Is admission valid for the whole day?
Yes. Regular admission is a Day Pass. Visitors may stay until closing and leave and return on the same day.
Please keep your wristband/stamp on for same-day re-entry.
Do we need to complete a waiver?
Yes. Each family must complete a visitor waiver.
First-time visitors must complete a waiver. Guests may be asked to complete a new waiver if their previous waiver is more than six months old.
What should we wear?
UU Family Farm is an outdoor working farm. We recommend:
-
Comfortable closed-toe shoes or boots
-
Clothing suitable for the weather
-
Sunscreen and a hat
-
A light jacket
-
Insect repellent when needed
Shoes and clothing may become dusty, muddy, or wet.
Is parking available?
Yes. On-site parking is available, and the farm can accommodate buses. Parking availability may be limited during busy events.
Can children pet the animals?
Gentle petting may be permitted in designated areas. Children must remain with and be supervised by an adult at all times.
Visitors must never chase, grab, corner, frighten, ride, or pick up an animal.
Are all animal areas always open?
No. Some areas may temporarily close or become viewing-only when animals need rest, privacy, medical care, or a quieter environment.
Access may also depend on weather, crowd levels, animal behaviour, and staff availability. Please follow all signs and staff instructions.
Can we enter the wallaby or kangaroo area?
Entry is only permitted when the area is open and supervised by staff. Visitors must move slowly, remain quiet, and never chase, corner, grab, or touch an animal’s tail.
Can we enter the rabbit area?
Rabbit interaction is available only when the area is open and supervised. Please use gentle hands and do not pick up a rabbit unless a staff member specifically allows it.
Can we enter the guinea pig area?
No. Guinea pigs are viewing-only because they are small, sensitive, and easily frightened. Please keep hands and fingers outside their enclosure.
Can we enter the cow pen?
Cow-pen entry may be restricted at staff discretion. Our cows are large and powerful and may accidentally push, crowd, or bump visitors.
Guests under 160 cm (5'3") and pregnant visitors must remain outside the pen. Anyone entering must follow staff instructions and must not stand directly behind the cows.
No feeding is permitted inside the cow pen.
Can we meet the capybara?
Our capybara can normally be viewed from outside her area. Because she is shy and still becoming comfortable around people, entry is not guaranteed.
Staff may occasionally invite a small number of visitors into a controlled experience when her behaviour and comfort allow. Please do not enter, touch, or feed her without staff permission.
Why is an animal resting or not visible?
Animals have their own routines and may choose to rest, move into shelter, or spend time away from visitors.
We do not force animals to perform or interact. Giving animals the choice to participate creates a safer and more respectful experience.
What happens if someone mistreats an animal?
Mistreatment of animals is strictly prohibited. Anyone who chases, grabs, frightens, teases, corners, or harms an animal may be asked to leave the farm.
Serious or repeated violations may result in removal without a refund and may affect future admission or membership privileges.
Animal Feeding
Can we feed the animals?
Only farm-approved animal feed may be offered, and only to animals designated for feeding.
Please follow the instructions on each enclosure. Some animals have specially planned diets and must not be fed by visitors.
Can we bring food for the animals?
No. Human food, outside animal feed, grass, leaves, and plants must not be given to any animal.
Unapproved food can cause illness, disrupt planned diets, or create unsafe animal behaviour.
Can we purchase animal feed?
Farm-approved feed is available for purchase while supplies last. Current options may include $3 and $5 feed cups.
Feed availability and eligible animals may change throughout the day.
How should we feed an animal safely?
Follow the instructions posted at the enclosure. Where hand-feeding is allowed, keep your hand flat and your fingers together.
Never tease an animal with food, pull food away after offering it, or place fingers through an enclosure marked “No Feeding.”
Why must we wash our hands?
Farm animals can naturally carry germs even when they appear clean and healthy.
Wash your hands with soap and water after animal contact and before eating or touching your face. Adults must supervise children while washing their hands.
Food and Picnic Areas
Can we bring outside food and drinks?
Yes. Visitors may bring food and drinks for their own picnic.
All human food must remain away from the animals. Please do not feed leftovers or outside food to any animal.
Are picnic tables available?
Yes. Picnic tables are available, but regular admission does not include a reserved table. Tables are generally available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reserved picnic areas may be included with organized group or birthday packages.
Can we bring decorations?
Simple decorations may be allowed for reserved parties. Decorations must be safe for animals, secured against wind, and completely removed after the event.
Please do not use confetti, glitter, water balloons, or other small materials that animals could swallow.
Is BBQ use permitted?
BBQ or cooking-area access depends on the booking, season, weather, fire restrictions, and farm operations. BBQ use may not be available during busy summer weekends.
Please receive approval before bringing or operating cooking equipment.
Do we need to clean our picnic area?
Yes. Groups must collect all garbage and bring it to the designated disposal area near the farm entrance.
A cleanup fee or refundable cleanup deposit may apply to organized bookings. The exact requirement will be included in the booking confirmation.

What are the bouncy-castle rules?
All visitors must follow posted capacity, age, height, and manufacturer safety rules.
Glasses are not permitted inside the bouncy castle. Children must remove shoes and follow staff instructions.
Does the bouncy castle operate in the rain?
No. The bouncy castle may close because of rain, wind, excessive heat, wet ground, poor ground conditions, or other safety concerns.
A bouncy-castle closure does not automatically mean that the farm is closed.

Accessibility and Special-Needs Admission
Is the farm wheelchair- and stroller-friendly?
Most farm paths are relatively flat and can be used by strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, and motorized mobility devices.
Because this is an outdoor farm, some areas may be uneven, grassy, muddy, or affected by weather.
Are the washrooms wheelchair accessible?
No. Our current washroom facilities are not fully wheelchair accessible. The front washroom has steps, and additional portable facilities may also have accessibility limitations.
Please contact us before visiting if you would like help planning your visit.
What is the special-needs admission policy?
Regular special-needs admission is $18 total for one guest with special needs and one accompanying caregiver.
Please let the Front Desk know at check-in. An Access 2 Card or supporting documentation may be requested.
Can a guest with special needs purchase a Year Pass?
Yes. A guest with special needs may purchase a Year Pass. One accompanying support worker or caregiver may receive complimentary admission.
The support worker does not need to be permanently registered by name, but the membership account should be noted at the Front Desk.
Do you hold Special Care Days?
We may offer designated Special Care Days with modified admission or quieter programming.
Dates and details are announced separately through our website and social media and are not part of the regular daily admission policy.
Pets and Service Animals
Can we bring a pet?
For the safety of our free-roaming and resident animals, outside pets are generally not permitted to walk around the farm.
A pet may only be accepted if it remains fully contained in a secure bag or enclosed stroller throughout the visit. Please contact the farm before bringing a pet.
What about service animals?
Please contact the farm before visiting so that we can discuss safe access around free-roaming and enclosed animals.
Some animal areas may require alternative arrangements to protect the service animal, farm animals, and visitors.
Weather and Closures
Is the farm open when it rains?
The farm may remain open during light rain, but activities and animal-access areas may be adjusted.
The bouncy castle and train may close because of rain, wind, wet ground, heat, or unsafe operating conditions.
What happens during severe weather?
The farm may delay opening, close early, or cancel activities because of severe weather, poor air quality, unsafe ground conditions, power interruptions, or animal-welfare concerns.
Please check Google Maps and our social media before travelling.
Can we receive a refund because an activity is closed?
Individual activities and animal interactions are subject to availability and are not guaranteed with general admission.
A temporary closure of one activity or animal area does not normally make the full admission refundable. Any exceptional request must be reviewed by farm management.
Groups and Drop-In Visits
