Egg to Chick: A Magical Adventure

21-Day Family Experience at UU Family Farm

Introduction

Step 1 · Adopt an Egg

Step 2 · Daily Visits & Exploration

Step 3 · Welcome the Miracle

Step 4 · The Hatching Moment

Step 5 · After Hatching

Families select an egg (chicken, duck, or goose).

Write a name or add a sticker to make it uniquely yours.

Take a photo together with your egg — a memory to begin the journey.

Your egg stays in our incubator under professional care, but you are welcome to visit daily to see how it’s doing.

Each day, children and parents can come back to the farm and “check in” on their egg. Staff will share updates and fun facts about what’s happening inside the shell. Families begin to build a sense of responsibility, just like caring for a little pet.

A 30–60 minute class, included with admission.

Topics include:

  • How incubation works (temperature, humidity, turning).

  • The stages of embryo growth.

  • Fun Q&A and hands-on moments, like touching empty eggshells.

Special highlight: Candle Lighting Experience — children use a flashlight to see veins and heartbeat inside the egg during Week 3.

Around Day 21, the miracle happens: the chick slowly cracks the shell.

Because timing is unpredictable, we explain that it’s a moment of “pure luck & magic”.

Options we offer:

  • Miracle Wall: staff photos/videos of the moment, shared with families.

  • Time-lapse Video: incubator camera captures progress.

  • If missed, families can still enjoy videos of other hatchings and meet newborn chicks in person.

Once the chick hatches and rests for 2–3 days, families can:

  • Take it home with a Starter Kit (feed, waterer, cage).

  • Leave it at the farm, where our team provides ongoing care. Families are invited to return often to visit “their chick.”

This choice keeps the experience flexible, fun, and stress-free
